  7. MX-Stripe allows a commonly used file to be allocated across any number of
  8. disks.  Increasing the access points to like data (i.e.  an inventory file in
  9. an order entry department) dramatically improves end-user response times on
  10. disk bound systems.  Star Technologies' DMX-Stripe is controller independent
  11. and totally transparent to the operating system and the end user.  All backup,
  12. restore, and other UNIX disk operations view the disk array as a single large
  13. disk.  To add a disk to the array, the user backs up the data, defines the new
  14. disk to the system, and then restores.  The new disk, when defined as such,
  15. will automatically become part of the stripe.
